This is the story of a little non-profit...

15 years in the making.

Ophelia’s Place began out of a mother’s desperation to provide the treatment and care her children so desperately needed. Through an ad in the local paper and a billboard downtown, an immense need was identified in the community for those seeking support and resources for eating disorders. After days spent lobbying for mental health parity, months putting together workshops and organizing conferences, and years establishing a treatment and business model that was effective and sustainable; a mother’s desperation was transformed. What started as a crisis center grew into a  comprehensive care center offering support, treatment, education, and a safe community for anyone affected by eating disorders, disordered eating, or body image.

From grassroots beginnings, our mission has grown into an organization that hopes to not only provide resources and treatment, but also empowers individuals to create change in their own circles of influence and the culture at large.

We are spending this year reflecting on our 15 years of growth with our 15th Anniversary, year-long campaign. In doing so, we would like to extend an invitation to anyone who has been a part of, or been touched by, Ophelia’s Place to share your stories and memories with us and celebrate a community creating change. That belief nurtured the seed that was planted when my daughter told me she needed more. That more being a community that embraces the struggle and shines a glimmer of light in the dark corners...
